SAN CLEMENTE HIGH SCHOOL
A re-imagining of San Clemente High School, the heart of San Clemente, CA, my small beach village hometown. The town is rich with history, and known to many as “The Spanish Village by the Sea”, founded by Ole Hanson, an early community planner inspired by the beauty of Southern Spain. The town’s one high school, a place so central to San Clemente life, was built in the 50’s and does not respect Ole Hanson’s original vision for the town. Not only has it expanded over the years with little sense of urbanism, but it is falling apart and has been significantly outgrown.
San Clemente High School is one of the best public schools in California, and the students and the community deserve a campus that relates to the town’s history, and that promotes excitement for learning and social interaction. The goal of this project was to create a “Spanish Campus by the Sea”, an environment that serves both the students and the community, a place that everyone will be able to make memories for years to come.
